At Wallace English, we are committed to providing high-quality, consistent tutoring. In order to respect the time of both our tutors and clients, we have a clear cancellation policy in place. Please read the following carefully, as it outlines the conditions under which cancellations are permitted, and the associated charges.
Cancellation Notice Periods
We require advance notice for cancellations. The cancellation fee depends on how far in advance you notify us:
More than 24 hours’ notice:
-
No charge.
-
We appreciate early communication. You may reschedule the session at no additional cost.
Between 23 and 12 hours before the lesson:
-
50% of the lesson fee will be charged.
-
This window gives us some time to adjust the schedule but is not enough to fill the slot reliably.
Within 12 hours of the scheduled lesson:
-
100% of the lesson fee will be charged.
-
Last-minute cancellations make it impossible to reschedule or offer the slot to another student.
What is Considered an Acceptable Cancellation?
While cancellations with proper notice are not penalized, there are also a few acceptable circumstances where late cancellations may be excused:
Medical emergencies
-
This includes sudden illness of the student or an immediate family member.
Family emergencies or accidents
-
If there is a serious, unexpected situation involving family health or safety.
Outages
-
If the student is unable to attend due to power/internet outages beyond their control.
These exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and Wallace English reserves the right to determine whether the cancellation qualifies as acceptable.
What Is Not Considered Acceptable for Waiving the Cancellation Fee?
To maintain fairness and consistency, the following are not considered valid reasons to waive cancellation fees if they occur within the penalty window:
-
“Forgetting” the lesson time or being double-booked
-
Being tired, busy, or wanting to delay for convenience
-
Studying for an upcoming test
-
Scheduling conflicts with other extracurriculars or social events
-
Travel plans that were known in advance but not communicated early
-
Internet/technical issues on the student’s side (unless verified as part of a broader outage)
Make-Up Sessions & Rescheduling
We will do our best to reschedule lessons when proper notice is given. Please understand that time slots are limited given a full schedule and make-up sessions are not guaranteed.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. This policy helps us maintain fairness, reliability, and a high standard of service for all our students and families.
